Position Description

Physical Demands / WorkEnvironment : Standard office environment. Reports To : Utility BillingSupervisor Work Location : On site @530 E. Monroe Ave, Buckeye, AZ 85326duration : 8 months Would the selected candidate be handling money : Yes (Creditcheck might be included in the background verification)

GENERAL PURPOSE : Undergeneral supervision, provides customer service to utility customers andprocesses incoming revenues into the cash receipting system.

PRIMARY DUTIES ANDRESPONSIBILITIES : The following duties ARE NOT intended to serve as acomprehensive list of all duties performed by all employees in thisclassification, only a representative summary of the primary duties andresponsibilities. Incumbent(s) may not be required to perform all duties listedand may be required to perform additional, position-specific duties. Acceptsnew applications for service over the phone, electronically, in person or bymail. Prepares field service orders and enters new customer data into thecustomer information system. Ensures new accounts are created with allnecessary services and the appropriate service and rate codes are assigned toproduce accurate billing statements. Coordinates utility services with any Cityservice provider. Answers utility customer inquiries, resolves service / usagediscrepancies. Accepts and processes utility payments over the telephone and atour business counter. Prepares field service orders and updates the customerinformation system to terminate accounts as needed. Calculates billingadjustments to resolve processing issues and submits for approval and entry.Updates daily production spreadsheets. Reconciles transactions and data asdirected; records changes, reconciles and resolves differences; maintains theaccuracy of financial records. Creates and maintains records and filesassociated with financial transactions, service locations, and customers.Performs other duties as assigned or required.

Necessary Knowledge,

Skills and Abilities : Knowledge of :

City policies and procedures.

Principles of record keepingand records management.

Keyboarding skills with aminimum of 40 wpm

Ability to : Performmathematical computations

Work 7 : 00 a.m. to 6 : 00 p.m.Monday - Thursday

Skill in :

Operating a personal computerutilizing a variety of business software including Office 2010.

Effective oral and writtencommunication.

10-key by touch

Skills Preferred

Experience Required

Two (2) years of high-volumetelephone or business office customer service experience, preferably in autility environment, OR any equivalent combination of education and experiencethat meet the minimum requirements may be substituted. Preference will be givento those applicants with utility billing and / or Munis / Tyler experience.

Education Required

High School diploma or GEDequivalent
