Team Overview

The Virtual Machine Data Plane team is responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing the virtualization stack that supports running customer virtual machines. Our hypervisors run across all CPU architectures and virtualize underlying hardware capabilities like CPU, GPU, NVMe with near-bare metal performance. We are continually pushing the boundaries of virtualization technology to achieve our mission of offering customers highly-performant, always-available, and elastic virtual machines.

Role Summary

As a Consulting Member of Technical Staff, you will be responsible for leading software development efforts for significant features in Oracle Compute's service offerings. The role requires a blend of hands-on engineering expertise and leadership skills, focusing on building and operating large-scale, highly available cloud services. The ideal candidate will mentor team members, drive high-priority programs, and contribute to the evolution of standard practices within the software engineering division.

Responsibilities

• Own the software design and development for major components of Oracle's Cloud Infrastructure Virtual Machine product building new solutions across the virtualization software stack
• Drive operational excellence and best practices to improve the quality of the hypervisor and virtual machine platform
• Deep dive into any part of the stack from low-level Linux systems to high-level distributed system interactions to root cause issues and ensure our systems are resilient and fault tolerant.
• Value simplicity and scale, work comfortably in a collaborative, agile environment, and be excited to learn.

Compensation and Benefits

US : Hiring Range in USD from : $96,800 - $251,600 per year. May be eligible for bonus, equity, and compensation deferral.

Oracle maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, as well as reflect Oracle's differing products, industries and lines of business. Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.
