General Ledger Subject Matter Expert (SME)
CSCI Consulting is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented General Ledger Subject Matter Expert (SME) to support a specialized Tiger Team initiative. This role requires a strong understanding of Department of Defense (DoD) financial systems and accounting practices, with a focus on data integrity, reconciliation, and compliance.
Responsibilities
- Provide expert-level support in financial reconciliation and financial reporting using the U.S. Standard General Ledger (USSGL)
- Prepare, review, and validate journal vouchers to ensure accuracy and compliance with DoD financial regulations
- Apply knowledge of DoD Standard Financial Information Structure (SFIS) to ensure proper classification and alignment of financial data
- Analyze and resolve Treasury Tie Points discrepancies between feeder systems and the general ledger
- Identify and correct abnormal balances to ensure proper resolution in accordance with DoD policy
- Interpret and apply posting logic to ensure proper transaction recording and system alignment
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support audit readiness and financial improvement initiatives
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor's degree in accounting or related fieldAbility to obtain a DoD secret clearanceMust be local to the Washington, D.C. areaWilling and able to work onsite 23 days per weekExperience in DoD general ledger accounting and financial reconciliationStrong understanding of USSGL, SFIS, and DoD financial systems (e.g., GFEBS, DEAMS, NERP, or similar)Demonstrated experience and understanding of the Department of Defense's budgetary to proprietary relationships within the USSGLProven analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detailCreativity and adaptability in problem-solvingAbility to work with clients to understand their needsStrong organizational and time-management skillsExcellent written and verbal communication skillsProfessional presencePreferred Skills
