Job Description

Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) Technologists are responsible for the use of radiofrequencies within a magnetic field for diagnostic, therapeutic, or research purposes. They perform magnetic resonance imaging and acquire and analyze data needed for diagnosis at the request of and for interpretation by a licensed practitioner.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure correct order is obtained, patient is properly identified, and clinical history is documented while respecting confidentiality.
  • Utilize appropriate imaging protocols and optimize technical factors while prioritizing patient safety and applying ALARA principles.
  • Prepare, administer, and document activities related to medications in accordance with laws and institutional policy.
  • Evaluate images for proper positioning and technical quality, verifying archival storage and data transfer when applicable.
  • Educate and monitor students and other healthcare providers.
  • Apply principles of magnetic resonance safety to minimize risks to patients and staff.
  • Assist licensed practitioners with magnetic resonance interventional procedures as needed.
  • Fully proficient in all assigned routine and complex job duties.
  • Participate in quality or process improvement activities within the modality.

    • Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

  • Graduate from Specialty Training Program-Radiologic Technology (Required).
  • Minimum of 2 years of related work experience (Required).
  • Certification by the American Registry of Radiology Technologist (ARRT) and ARRT-MR or ARMRIT.
  • Basic Life Support Certification.
  • Additional certifications in Nuclear Medicine as applicable.
