Job Summary

The Coder I Health Information Management is responsible for coding all ED, OP and clinical patient types as directed.

Pay Range

Experience

Required : Minimum one (1) year of coding experience in a Health Information Management Department.

Education

Required : High School Diploma or GED equivalent.

Training

Required : None Required

Specialized Skills

Required : Thorough knowledge of ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS. Exceptional verbal and written communication skills; interpersonal relationship and collaboration skills.

Excellent analytical and organization skills; excellent critical thinking, judgment, and problem-solving skills. Proficient skills in Microsoft Office e.

g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc. Hands-on troubleshooting abilities of complex problems.

Preferred : Knowledge of 3M encoder, SoftMed Abstracting System, and Cerner HER.

Licensure

  • Required : Certified Coding Associate -(CCA) or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) or Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT).
  • Preferred : Registered Health Information Admin (RHIA).
