Wound Care Nurse Practitioner / Physician Assistant

Job Purpose
The Wound Care NP / PA provides direct patient care under the supervision of a wound care physician. This role is responsible for assessing, diagnosing, and managing acute and chronic wounds, performing wound-related procedures, and educating patients and families. The NP / PA ensures compliance with state scope of practice laws, organizational policies, and regulatory standards.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Conduct patient assessments, histories, and physical examinations focused on wound care.
Perform wound-related procedures, including debridement, dressing selection / application, and use of advanced wound care therapies.
Order and interpret diagnostic studies related to wound care.
Develop and implement care plans in collaboration with supervising physician.
Provide patient and caregiver education regarding wound care and prevention.
Accurately document clinical encounters in the EMR in accordance with coding and compliance standards.
Participate in interdisciplinary care planning and team conferences.
Maintain professional development, certification, and continuing education requirements.
Adhere to organizational policies, infection control standards, and HIPAA compliance.
Qualifications
Current NP or PA license in [State] with prescriptive authority.
National certification (AANP, ANCC, NCCPA).
Wound care certification (CWCN, CWS, or equivalent) preferred.
2+ years of relevant clinical experience preferred (primary care, surgery, emergency, wound care).
Strong communication, clinical judgment, and documentation skills.
