Controller Position
Tammy Power, recruiting manager with Robert Half, is looking for a dedicated controller to join our team in Bakersfield, California. In this leadership role, you will oversee the accounting operations while providing strategic financial guidance to ensure organizational growth and stability. This position offers an excellent opportunity to manage a team and collaborate across departments to drive financial efficiency and compliance.
Responsibilities :
- Supervise and manage all accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and cost accounting.
- Prepare accurate financial statements on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis in adherence to US GAAP standards.
- Lead the budgeting and forecasting processes, providing detailed variance analysis to support decision-making.
- Coordinate audits, tax filings, and compliance efforts with external auditors and tax professionals.
- Implement and maintain strong internal controls, policies, and financial systems to safeguard the organization's assets.
- Collaborate with department leaders to analyze project financials, monitor job costs, and track profitability.
- Oversee payroll processes and ensure compliance with regulations for both union and non-union employees.
- Mentor and develop the accounting team to foster a high-performing and collaborative work environment.
- Drive process improvements and system enhancements to optimize financial operations.
- Partner with leadership to develop and execute financial strategies that align with organizational goals.
Requirements :
Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.12+ years of progressive accounting experience, including managing a full accounting department.Strong knowledge of US GAAP and technical accounting principles.Proven ability to lead audits, implement financial systems, and enhance processes.Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to present financial data effectively to non-financial stakeholders.Experience in corporate and operational finance within a privately held organization.Familiarity with payroll processes and HR compliance for union and non-union employees.Demonstrated expertise in budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.Robert Half is the world's first and largest specialized talent solutions firm that connects highly qualified job seekers to opportunities at great companies.
