This position works with the Safety Manager to create a safe workplace for all team members at all company locations, on all shifts. The Safety Specialist is responsible for inspecting work areas and equipment to ensure compliance with company, state, and federal safety policies and regulations. Responsibilities also include documenting safety inspections, identifying dangerous areas / procedures and recommending corrective procedures and maintaining safety equipment supply and availability.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Collecting data on safety and overall health of surroundings
- Working in a wide variety of spaces, including offices, factories, or construction zones
- Evaluating equipment to ensure that workers and managers adhere to government regulations.
- Understanding and following all appropriate government rules, standards, and regulations
- Finding solutions that serve to combat and control workplace hazards.
- Using technical skills to operate computers or testing equipment
- Maintain Safety Documents
- Assist in Safety Trainings company wide
- Lead Safety Team meetings
- Complete the Train the Trainer course for forklifts to lead forklift training in the company.
- Take injured team members to receive care
- Conducts 5-S audits and maintain good housekeeping in the department
- Complete safety audits company wide
- Investigate incidents and accidents to identify root causes and action plans that help prevent future incidents.
- Audit Safe Work Practices
- Audit Standard Operating Procedures
- Assist in the development of Lock out Tag out procedures
- Assist in new hire safety training
- Assist in Industrial Hygiene monitoring annually
- Coach team members on safety regulations
- Administer first aid to injured team members
- Inspect fall protection
- Assist in the filing of workers’ compensation claims
- Assist in maintaining all requirements of the HAZ Com / GHS process.
- Complete risk assessments for all processes.
- Lead monthly Emergency Response Team meetings
- Work with Maintenance & Engineering to design safety features on new production processes
- Maintain eyewash and first aid kit inspections
- Punctuality and regular attendance

REQUIRED :
High School Degree or equivalent.PREFERRED :
