URM Stores, Inc. is seeking a Payroll Specialist with proven expertise in payroll processing and compliance to join our collaborative, multi-company Payroll team. This is a 100% on-site position based in Spokane, WA.
As a Payroll Specialist reporting to our Payroll Analyst Manager, you’ll ensure accurate and timely payroll processing for 750+ employees, maintain compliance with all applicable laws, prepare reports, and serve as a trusted point of contact for payroll inquiries. What You’ll Do
- Accurately process biweekly payroll for 750+ exempt, non-exempt, union, and non-union employees across multiple states.
- Perform payroll controls and audits to ensure compliance and accuracy.
- Interpret and apply four unique Union Collective Bargaining Agreements (CBAs) to ensure every paycheck is correct.
- Manage benefit deductions, payroll tax setup, garnishments, union dues / steps, & 401(k) employee and employer contributions.
- Maintain detailed and accurate payroll records for future audits and internal reviews.
- Collaborate with Accounting to reconcile payroll general ledger accounts.
- Review and audit year-end W-2s and support payroll reconciliation audits.
- Assist with special projects and process improvements.

Education, Experience, & Certifications
3+ years of payroll processing experience for at least 250+ employees per cycle in a multi-state environment.Hands-on payroll processing experience with at least one SaaS-based payroll platforms (Paylocity, Workday, ADP, etc.) required.CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) or FPC (Fundamental Payroll Certification) preferred; or commitment to earn one of these certifications within your first year ( URM reimburses if started post-hire) .Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Accounting, Business, Bookkeeping, or related field preferred.Strong understanding and working knowledge of the different types of garnishments and their withholding requirements.Experience processing payroll for union, non-union, exempt, non-exempt, and multi-state employees within the laws and guidelines set for each group of employees.Experience with Union Health & Welfare benefit plans, dues, and CBAs is a plus.Confidentiality & Professional Integrity
