Position Overview

Senior Engineer / Technical Lead - Salesforce

Company : Zelis

Reports to : VP, Enterprise Applications

As a Senior Engineer / Technical Lead focusing on our Salesforce Ecosystem, you will be a key design authority within the Enterprise Applications team. Your mission will be to lead the technical architecture and solution design for a dedicated Salesforce delivery team (specializing in Sales Cloud or Service Cloud) and serve as a trusted partner, translating strategic goals into scalable technology solutions.

You will collaborate with product owners, business stakeholders, and cross-functional engineering teams to align Salesforce capabilities with enterprise objectives. Your leadership will navigate complex design decisions, balancing innovation with stability, ensuring our Salesforce implementations are robust, secure, and prepared for the future.

This is a high-impact role requiring deep technical expertise, strong communication skills, and a collaborative spirit. You will influence roadmap decisions, advocate for engineering best practices, and proactively discover opportunities to enhance business processes through technology.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and architecture of Salesforce solutions for Sales or Service teams, ensuring they are scalable and maintainable.
  • Develop robust, enterprise-grade solutions using Apex, Lightning Components, Flows, and Salesforce APIs, balancing custom development with native platform features.
  • Translate business requirements into actionable technical deliverables while closely partnering with product managers and stakeholders.
  • Oversee the complete development lifecycle : from design and prototyping to implementation, testing, deployment, and support.
  • Establish and uphold engineering best practices, including code reviews, unit testing, CI / CD pipelines, and documentation standards.
  • Mentor and guide junior engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous learning.
  • Collaborate with teams to integrate Salesforce with other enterprise systems (e.g., ERP, data platforms) for seamless data flow and optimal user experience.
  • Proactively address technical challenges, including performance issues, security risks, and platform limitations.
  • Stay updated with Salesforce platform enhancements, evaluating new features and recommending implementation strategies when appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 7+ years of software engineering experience, with at least 3 years concentrated on Salesforce development and architecture.
  • Experience leading Salesforce implementations, particularly for Sales Cloud or Service Cloud.
  • Strong proficiency in Apex, Lightning Components, Flows, and Salesforce APIs.
  • Familiarity with CI / CD pipelines, DevOps practices, and agile methodologies.
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Salesforce certifications (e.g., Platform Developer II, Application Architect, Technical Architect) are a plus.

    Location and Workplace Flexibility

    We have offices in Atlanta GA, Boston MA, Morristown NJ, Plano TX, St. Louis MO, St. Petersburg FL, and Hyderabad, India. Our culture supports hybrid and remote work, with employee work locations determined by the needs of the role and leadership team decisions. In-office activities vary based on work and team objectives in accordance with company policies.

    Base Salary Range

    $127,000.00 - $169,000.00

    At Zelis, we are dedicated to fair compensation. This salary range considers various factors, including experience, education, qualifications, and job-related knowledge. Base salary is one component of our Total Rewards package, which may include bonuses, commissions, or other incentives based on the role.
