Litigation Paralegal [In-House Opportunity]

Legal.io is working with a top tech company in Cupertino, CA to bring on a Legal Research Specialist (Privacy and Law Enforcement Compliance).

Great opportunity for someone looking make the jump from firm life to in-house. This is a multi-year contract, requires someone to be on-site in Cupertino Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.

The ideal candidate would have a background as a litigation paralegal or legal assistant in big law.

Job Responsibilities :

• Reviewing, scrutinizing, and responding to emergency requests received from law enforcement agencies for customer information within established procedures.
• Participate in on-call emergency requests after-hours, on weekends, and holidays.
• Reviewing and responding to large volume of time-sensitive standard requests received from law enforcement agencies for customer information which are handled in strict accordance with applicable law
• Intake and respond to criminal and civil subpoenas
• Evaluate and respond to law enforcement requests
• Help determine how the Company will respond to the subpoena and / or data information request
• Communicate verbally and in writing with law enforcement personnel, Company employees, in-house counsel, and others
• Assist in the identification of patterns and trends that might be evident from the processing of certain law enforcement requests
• Communicate process questions from law enforcement, government agencies, and internal / external parties, both in writing and over the phone.
• Analyze and process legal process documents and requests within departmental operating procedures.
• Researching relevant internal systems and retrieving appropriate information to include in emergency and standard-level responses.
• Assisting with the development of reports and presentations about the operational area and providing administrative support as needed.

Required Qualifications :

• Bachelor’s degree with strong academic credentials
• A strong work ethic, exceptional judgment, and uncompromising integrity
• Strong understanding and handling of sensitive information and privacy protection.
• Knowledgeable about the United States legal system, and able to identify the various types of legal process, e.g. subpoena, court order, search warrant.
• Able to differentiate between federal, state and local government and law enforcement agencies.

Preferred Qualifications :

• Experience at a tech company (tech savvy individual)
• Preferred candidate would have a litigation background either as a junior paralegal / paralegal, or a legal secretary.

Role Details :

• Anticipated Start Date : Immediately
• Schedule : 40 hours per week - This will be an ongoing, likely multi-year contract
• Pay Rate : $45 - $65 / hr ($90,000 - $130,000 annualized)

• Location : Cupertino, CA - Hybrid (in office Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday)
