Instrumentation, Controls and Electrical (IC&E) / O&M Technician
The Syracuse Combined Cycle Plant in Solvay, NY, is a 103 MW facility with a Siemens V64.3 combustion turbine, a Deltak three-drum HRSG, and an Ansaldo steam turbine. This role may also support the Beaver Falls facility, a 107 MW 1x1 combined-cycle dual-fuel cogeneration plant supplying steam to two paper mills. Beaver Falls features a Siemens V64.3 turbine, an Ansaldo steam turbine, a Deltak HRSG, and a Tempella auxiliary boiler. Both plants play a key role in the regional energy landscape, ensuring reliable power and supporting New York's industrial operations.
Opportunity Summary
The Instrumentation, Controls, & Electrical (IC&E) / O&M Technician is responsible for monitoring the status of all plant systems on a continuous basis. Responds to alarms by taking appropriate corrective actions and executes plant shutdown and start-up procedures as required. Ensures that the plant meets its generating requirements while operating in a safe and efficient manner. This role also involves troubleshooting, calibrating, and repairing instrumentation, DCS, and PLC systems, supporting planned outages, emergency repairs, and routine maintenance tasks under supervisory guidance. Additionally, the technician will participate in plant operations, and assist with administrative duties to ensure the smooth and safe operation of the facility.
Your scope of responsibility as IC&E / O&M Technician includes the following primary functions :

Working Relationships
The IC&E / O&M Technician reports to the Plant Manager. This position will also coordinate with all other plant personnel in the safe and efficient daily operation of the plant.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
Physical requirements include standing for extended periods of time, climbing stairs and ladders, working from elevated platforms and walkways at varying heights, and routinely lifting up to 50 pounds.
Power plant environment that may involve entering confined spaces, crawling through narrow areas, and handling hazardous materials, with exposure to fumes, extreme temperatures, and noise. Work may include high heat near equipment and varying outdoor weather conditions.
Some duties may require the use of protective equipment, which can include hard hats, safety glasses, and eye protection, air masks / respirators, ear protection, chemical suits, flame-resistant clothing (FRC), hot gloves, high-voltage protective gear, and fall protection. Fit testing for respirators may be required. Strict smoking restrictions apply in and around the facility.
Fitness for Duty
All personnel will participate in the Fitness for Duty Program, which includes a post-offer physical examination, drug screening, and post-employment random drug screening.
Work Schedule
The IC&E / O&M Technician works a standard Monday to Friday day shift schedule, ensuring consistent plant operation and support during regular business hours. This position will also occasionally necessitate extended working hours and flexible shifts as needed, including weekends and holidays, in response to schedules, workload demands, and plant conditions. Periodic callouts or "On call" status will also be required.
Some travel may be required as needed in support of the Beaver Falls Generation Facility.
Compensation
This position offers a base pay rate ranging from $44.29 to $50.21 per hour, along with an annual performance bonus.
