Your Role : Middle School English Language Arts (ELA) Teacher

Are you passionate about literature and eager to create an engaging classroom culture? As an ELA Teacher at Uncommon Schools, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the minds of our middle schoolers. You will help students master the subject while navigating the socio-emotional changes they experience. Your classroom will emphasize writing and discourse, empowering students to find their voice and express themselves confidently. With training in research-based instructional strategies, you will ignite a passion for literature, enhance reading comprehension, and promote student agency. By the end of eighth grade, your students will be ready for the academic challenges of high school.

Key Responsibilities

• Empower students through an inclusive, culturally responsive curriculum that promotes equitable outcomes.
• Guide students in analyzing texts, assessing authors' purposes, and engaging in meaningful discussions.
• Create a safe and inclusive environment where students can express their authentic voices.
• Encourage independent reading by helping students select books that spark their interests.

Compensation

The salary for this role ranges from $50,000 to $64,700 . Starting pay is determined by various factors, including relevant full-time teaching experience, education certifications, and tenure with Uncommon Schools. Candidates without full-time teaching experience will likely start at $50,000.
