Minimum Qualifications Minimum Qualifications for Provisional Appointment :
You must be a qualified employee of the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation; Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation;
or Adirondack Park Agency and have had one year of permanent competitive or 55-b / 55-c service as follows* :
Either A. Biologist 1 (Marine);
Or B. Biologist 1 (Aquatic), Biologist 1 (Ecology), Biologist 1 (Wildlife).
Reassignment - Currently in the title and an employee of DEC
Reinstatement Eligible - Previously held the title on a permanent competitive basis or held a title as indicated under the transfer eligible section on a permanent competitive basis.
Transfer Eligible under Section 70.1 - One year of permanent competitive service as a Biologist 2 (Aquatic), (Ecology), (Marine) or (Wildlife), SG23.
If we do not have a viable eligible for this title and no more than three individuals interested from among the interested qualified candidates for this position, it may be possible to make a permanent appointment via non-competitive promotion.
Duties Description Biologist 2 (Marine) will supervise Biologist 1 Marine staff members and manage work flow for Article 15, Article 25, and Section 401WQC permits and ensure UPA time frames are met.
Biologist 2 (Marine) will oversee the Bureau of Marine Habitat Protection's enforcement program which includes inspections, issuing Notice of Violations, holding settlement conferences, and drafting / reviewing Orders on Consent.
The Biologist 2 (Marine) will manage the Bureau of Marine Habitat Protection's budget / vehicles / equipment and approve all purchases.
The Biologist 2 (Marine) must be able to work cooperatively and communicate effectively with other units within the agency as well as outside entities such as public agencies, elected officials, non-governmental organizations, and other public stakeholders.
