Desktop Support Technician

A desktop support technician provides technical assistance and resolves issues with computer hardware, software, and peripherals for end-users, both remotely and in person. Their duties include installing and configuring new equipment, troubleshooting problems like slow PCs or software errors, performing maintenance and upgrades, and assisting with tasks such as network connections and printing. This role is a blend of technical expertise and customer service, essential for keeping an organization's technology running smoothly.

Key responsibilities

• Troubleshooting :
• Diagnose and resolve a wide range of technical issues with desktop and laptop computers, operating systems, and applications.
• Installation and configuration :
• Set up new hardware and software, including operating systems, applications, and peripheral devices like printers.
• Maintenance and upgrades :
• Perform routine maintenance, apply software updates and patches, and upgrade hardware or software as needed.
• User assistance :
• Provide technical support and guidance to users via phone, email, or in person, helping them with questions about hardware, software, and other computer-related tasks.
• Network support :
• Assist with setting up and troubleshooting network connections, Wi-Fi, and VPNs.
• Security :
• Remove viruses and spyware from user workstations.
• Onboarding :
• Help onboard new employees by setting up their workstations and providing initial support.
• Documentation :
• Document technical procedures, support requests, and solutions in a help desk system.
• Inventory management :
• Maintain an inventory of computer hardware and equipment.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Falconer, NY.

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00 / hr.
