Inova’s Research Administration department is seeking a Full Time IRB Analyst to join their team.

The Institutional Review Board (IRB) Analyst reviews and approves research studies involving human subjects at Inova Health System.

Assists with coordinating the daily activities of the department and analyzes research submissions for completeness, accuracy, and ethical and regulatory compliance.

Interacts and communicates extensively with committee members, investigators, and key personnel involved in research at Inova Health System.

Job Responsibilities :

  • Serve as a knowledgeable resource on human subjects research to the IRB Analysts, the other component offices of the ORI, and the Inova research community as a acts as a liaison between the IRB, research community, and other regulatory entities as required.
  • Conducts a regulatory review of IRB submissions and projects submitted for IRB review.
  • Oversees the accurate and timely processing, tracking, and filing of submissions related to human subject research.
  • Maintains an accurate and comprehensive database of reviewed research, as well as maintain communications with investigators, regulatory entities, and any others involved in the conduct of submitted research as well as records of suspensions, administrative closures, and final reports for the IRBs.
  • Researches submissions for IRB Review; conducts local context reviews for research submissions for which an external IRB review process is used.
  • Ensures the information submitted by investigators is adequate for effective HRPO and IRB review, advising investigators in the preparation of their applications and accompanying materials.
  • Supports IRB meeting(s), ensuring that a quorum is present and maintained during convened meetings.
  • Confirms that the IRB agenda is prepared and prioritized appropriately and that the necessary review materials are provided before IRB meetings, as well as available during IRB review.

Records meeting minutes in sufficient detail to document IRB discussions and determinations.

  • Provides regulatory guidance to the IRB members related to human subject research to ensure research is reviewed in compliance with institutional policies, State and Federal regulations pertaining to research as well as ICH GCP and HIPAA.
  • May perform other duties as assigned.

Experience :

Three years of clinical research or regulatory experience

Education :

Bachelor's degree in related field (or relevant experience in lieu of degree equivalent to 4 years
