Position Information Job Title Museum Curator Position Number Department College of Arts & Humanities Salary $, - $, Job Summary / Description The Museum Curator is a full-time position reporting to the Director.

The Curator collaborates with academic departments such as history, visual and performing arts and other entities on campus as necessary.

The Curator exhibits, interprets, maintains, and protects objects of historical and aesthetic importance in the Angelo State University Museum. Typical Duties / Job Duties

  • Exhibit design, development, and construction
  • Manage day-to-day museum operations
  • Develop and implement educational programs
  • Seeks and prepares funding proposals in conjunction with Director
  • Catalogue and display material
  • Develop and maintain exhibit schedule
  • Supervise volunteers, docents, and interns among others
  • Identify and record items
  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of museum procedures and best practices.
  • Skilled in oral and written communications and skilled in interpersonal relations.
  • Ability to do historical research; ability to speak knowledgeably and effectively before groups; ability to organize and complete tasks in an accurate and timely manner;

ability to perform work requiring accuracy and attention to detail.

Minimum Qualifications Possession of an BA in museum studies or related field.

Museum, archival, or closely related experience required. Preferred Qualifications Possession of an MA in museum studies or related field.
