USD $64,800.00 / Yr. - USD $137,600.00 / Yr.

Department Summary

The Digital Spaces department manages physical and virtual classrooms, specialized learning environments, live events venues, digital signage, and other learning environments (e.

g., conference spaces). Oversees that they are suitably equipped and functional to meet the needs of the educational experience.

Oversees the installation and long-term management of displays technologies (e.g., screens) across campus.

Position Summary

The Technical Project Engineer will work alongside the Supervisor, Event Services, AV Sales Manager, and UCLA hospitality and events teams to design AV solutions for live event services for the IT-managed spaces including the Luskin Conference Center, The Hill, Lake Arrowhead Conference Center, and other central IT events across the UCLA enterprise.

The Technical Project Engineer will meet with stakeholders to speck and design appropriate AV systems to fit customer event requirements while ensuring profitability and excellent customer service.

The Technical Project Engineer will positively impact UCLA's operations and culture by enabling University stakeholders to effectively leverage educational technology tools, media and collaboration products.

This team member will advance the University's mission by delivering exceptional information technology services comprehensively and consistently across faculty, staff, and students.

This role will execute UCLA's vision while modeling UCLA's culture and values.

Salary & Compensation

UCLA provides a full pay range. Actual salary offers consider factors, including budget, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business considerations.

Qualifications

  • Three years Experience working in one or more of the following fields : live event production, AV systems design, computer science, computer information systems, or a related field. (Required)
  • Proven experience working in a fast-paced live events environment and recommending systems appropriate to the event requirements. (Required)
  • Extensive experience solving technical and non-technical problems; able to delegate solutioning. (Required)
  • Experience as a point of escalation. understanding of how decisions affect teams. ability to make decisions with integrity. (Required)
  • Demonstrated experience providing inclusive leadership of others, cultivating an inclusive environment that values equity, diversity, inclusion and belonging. (Required)
  • Five or more years Experience working in one or more of the following fields : live event production, AV systems design, computer science, computer information systems. (Preferred)
  • Experience in complex higher education environments, serving academic and administrative functions of a large public university. (Preferred)
  • Ability to design, build, and test AV solutions based on project specifications. (Required)
  • Basic knowledge of network topology, equipment, and capabilities in an AV systems environment. Demonstrated ability to create AV flow diagrams, schematics and AV infrastructure drawings. (Required)
  • Knowledge of applicable codes and regulations and ability to provide technical advice based on sound understanding of AV principles and practice. (Required)
  • Knowledge of electronics theory with emphasis on audio, video and communications circuitry, AV IT control systems and signal flow.

Knowledge of acoustic design theory. (Required)

  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills and is able to communicate work assignments to medium-sized teams. Demonstrated experience presenting complex technical information to audiences of technical and non-technical stakeholders. (Required)
  • Demonstrated leadership / management skills, including abilities in persuasion, negotiation, change management, and mentorship. (Required)
  • Advanced project management skills with demonstrated experience delegating responsibility, tracking project progress, supervising others, and advising teams on competing priorities. (Required)
  • Inspires creativity in others and advises teams on industry-leading practices, such as the incorporation of new technologies or processes.

Has demonstrated experience leading in an ever-changing, fast-paced environment. (Required)

Education, Licenses, Certifications & Personal Affiliations

  • Bachelor's Degree Information technology, computer science, public administration, business administration, communications, or a related field, or equivalent combination of experience / training. (Required)
  • Bachelor's Degree Information technology, computer science, public administration, business administration, communications. (Preferred)
  • Certified Technology Specialist-Design (CTS-D) or equivalent certification (Preferred)
  • Dante, AVB, Crestron NVX, or Other Networked AV Certification (Preferred)

Special Conditions for Employment

This position is eligible for a hybrid work arrangement that includes regular visits to campus as needed (for those who work remotely, travel / lodging expenses are not eligible for reimbursement).

The anticipated pay range for this position is $112,676-$126,500, annually; salary is dependent upon the skills and experience of the selected finalist.

8 : 00 A.M. to 5 : 00 P.M. PT, Monday through Friday and / or variable based upon operational needs.
