Our Client is seeking Direct Support Shelter Advocates pay is $18 / hr Immediate Start!

Summary of Client's Description Of This Opportunity :

This position is part of a 24-hour-a-day, 7-day-a-week team of professionals providing shelter and support for homeless individuals.

We are responsible for the provision of basic services to clients and for the safe day-to-day operation of the shelter. The overriding goal of the shelter is to move families out of the shelter and this position supports that culture in all ways possible.

The shelter is located in Lowell, MA area.

Our client's current needs are for first shift (8 am-4 pm), second shift (4 pm-12 pm), and third shift (12 pm-8 am).

Key responsibilities of the position :

• Initiate and maintain appropriate social Interactions with residents and assist residents as needed.
• Conduct rounds of shelter to maintain the safety and security of residents.
• Assist with the preparation, serving, and cleanup of meals during the shift.
• Intervene if a resident is in crisis (medical, mental health, interpersonal).
• Complete assigned tasks of shift.
• Maintain order and cleanliness of the shelter.
• Monitor bedrooms, bathrooms, and dayrooms to maintain the safety and security of residents and the premises.
• Attend and participate in monthly staff meetings and any other required training.
• May be involved in room cleaning and packing rooms.

Client's Requirements :

• Previous work with homeless individuals and / or families, disabilities, or other at-risk populations.
• Ability to work alone and handle crises with good judgment, and adequate communication skills - both written and oral.
• Current CPR and First Aid Certifications are preferred.
• Must be able to occasionally ascend / descend stairs up to three or more sets, frequently move equipment weighing up to 5-20 lbs.
