Lead Museum Guard
Position Summary :
The Lead Guard provides support, direction and guidance to Museum Guard staff during weekends and evenings when Registrar and Museum Admin staff are not present.
This position also serves as the Museum’s point of contact during evenings and weekends.
Required Qualifications :
- Must have had customer services experience and enjoys serving the public.
- Must have a solid job history; excellent attendance and reliability.
- Ideal candidates will have 2-5 years of management experience in a customer service field. Should also possess a desire to be the leader of a team during exciting exhibitions and programs.
- Evening and weekend hours required.
Preferred Qualifications :
Previous employment in an art related field preferred.

Position Details : Job duties include but are not limited to :
Building manager / guard staff supervisor during evenings and weekends Performance is acceptable when : A. Prepares the Museum for daily operations by opening Museum spaces.
Ensures appropriate gallery lighting and decorum. Secures Museum spaces upon close. B. Provides supervision, direction and guidance to Museum Guard staff during times when Registrar / Museum Admin staff are not present, such as weekends, evenings, and during special events.
C. Contacts Campus Services for building related emergencies during weekends and evenings.
Ensures protection of artwork Performance is acceptable when : A. Observation of visitors to ensure protection of artwork.
B. Enforces museum rules in a confident, calm and friendly manner. C. Maintains order in assigned areas by addressing inappropriate behavior in a confident, calm, and friendly manner.
D. Serves as a deterrent to acts of vandalism and maintains proper propriety. E. Remains at designated post and is focused, attentive and alert.
Incident reporting Performance is acceptable when : A. Notifies supervisor on all incident reports at time of occurrence.
B. Fills out Incident Report Forms at the end of shift.
- Customer service Performance is acceptable when : A. Provides museum information to guests upon arrival. B. Directs visitors to galleries, restrooms, information desk and other points of interest.
- Duties and responsibilities, as required by business necessity, may be added, deleted or changed at any time at the discretion of management, formally or informally, either verbally or in writing.
Scheduling, shift assignments and work location may be changed at any time, as required by business necessity.
