As an Accounting Specialist III, you'll play a vital role within the organization by executing advanced accounting functions that uphold the financial integrity and operational efficiency of the credit union. This full-time, non-exempt position offers a competitive wage starting at $22.96 per hour, based on experience. This position is classified as hybrid / remote position with a standard schedule of Monday through Friday, 8 : 30 AM to 5 : 00 PM.

A Day in the Life of an Accounting Specialist III

Each day begins with purpose and focus as you engage in a variety of tasks that support the financial health of both the credit union and its members. In this versatile role, you'll provide backup and support across all areas of the accounting department, ensuring daily operations, such as EFT, ACH, Share Draft, and plastic card processing, are completed with accuracy and efficiency. You'll also contribute to more complex functions like wire transfers, financial forecasting, risk analysis, and general ledger reconciliation. With strong attention to detail and a commitment to confidentiality, you help maintain precise financial records and ensure compliance with GAAP and regulatory standards.

Whether you're researching a general ledger discrepancy, authorizing a credit limit increase, or guiding a member through a fraudulent transaction dispute with empathy and professionalism, your solutions-focused approach and analytical mindset are key. You'll collaborate with colleagues across departments, assist leadership with audit requests, and manage multiple priorities while meeting deadlines with diligence and precision. Your work directly contributes to a seamless experience for both staff and members, reinforcing our commitment to building life-long relationships, one member at a time.

Minimum Qualifications for an Accounting Specialist III

• High School diploma or GED
• Three years of relevant work experience, education or a combination thereof is required
• Bachelor's degree or a four year degree in Accounting or a related field is highly desirable; sufficient direct experience may substitute for a degree
• This position is classified as hybrid position which requires the incumbent to reside within a reasonable traveling distance to an NCU facility with the ability to primarily work from home and report to an NCU facility as needed.
