Access Control Specialist I

Under the direction of the Supervisor, Physical Security, the Access Control Specialist I is responsible for facilitating in the administration and maintenance of various access control and alarm systems including physical security strategies, asset protection, loss prevention, access control, and identifying gaps in controls, processes, and policies.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

1. Contributes to the development, planning, and implementation of new security functions and the physical security program within the Department of Public Safety to ensure alignment with enterprise and community goals.

2. Maintains the Enterprise electronic access control database by updating user credentials, managing access permissions, auditing system logs, and ensuring data integrity across all access points. Performs regular reviews and reconciliations to ensure compliance with security protocols and regulatory requirements.

3. Research new and updated physical security information, including products, protocols, and standards, and presents potential solutions to management.

4. Ensures compliance with professional standards, internal policies, federal and state laws, Tribal ordinances, and Indian gaming regulations by developing effective work methods and monitoring adherence across the enterprise.

5. Identifies and resolves issues related to team member badge access levels, onboarding badge setup, access control system profiles, and construction vendor credentials timely and accurately; adopts effective and reasonable courses of action swiftly, considering all relevant circumstances. Addresses equipment-related questions and complaints efficiently.

6. Operates and manages the access control Mobile Workstation to perform after-hours diagnostics, system repairs, and resets.

7. Establishes and manages user accounts across multiple information systems by granting, provisioning, and de-provisioning identities and access in alignment with applicable policies, procedures, laws, regulations, and accreditation standards.

8. Coordinates vendor activities for emergency access control system repairs, including after-hours system failures, troubleshooting hardware, and restoring access control and alarm systems to proper operating condition.

9. Performs other duties as assigned to support the efficient operation of the department.

Education, Experience And Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Minimum three (3) years' experience in public or private sector security required.
• Minimum one (1) year of experience working with various electronic access control systems, and / or alarms required.
