Chemical Engineering Intern

As a Chemical Engineer ing Intern at Cleveland-Cliffs, the projects assigned will vary based on the intern's education level and plant location, but will generally reflect the duties outlined below.

Summary of Responsibilities :

Analyze product failure data and laboratory test results to determine causes of problems and develop solutions

Conduct tests on raw materials or finished products to ensure their quality

Determine appropriate methods for fabricating and joining materials

Design and direct the testing and / or control of processing procedures

Determine appropriate methods for fabricating and joining materials

Evaluate technical specifications and economic factors relating to process or product design objectives

Monitor material performance and evaluate material deterioration

Plan and implement laboratory operations for the purpose of developing material and fabrication procedures that meet cost, product specification, and performance standards

Review new product plans and make recommendations for ease of manufacturability while meeting the product design objectives, such as strength, weight, corrosion resistance, electrical conductivity, and cost

Potentially supervise a crew of hourly employees

Various other duties as assigned to support the business

Minimum Qualifications :

Enrollment in Bachelor of Science program in Chemical Engineering or other related technical degrees

Completion of at least sophomore yea r of study by the summer of 2026
