About The Position

Certifications : ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, PALS

Must-Have :

Candidates must have experience in both ICU and ER.

Floating between the two units is required.

Description :

Unit has an 8-bed capacity.

Ratios are 1 : 1-2.

Charting system is Cerner.

Charge nurse role is generally without patient assignment but includes break relief.

Nurse aides are available as census and staffing dictate.

Weekend requirement is every other weekend.

Holidays are rotated with core staff.

Scrub color is navy, with undershirts allowed in navy, white, or black.

Optional scrub jackets must be navy.

Telemetry experience is necessary; candidates must be able to read and interpret EKG strips.

Candidates should have experience with ventilators.

Hospitalist or intensivist is available on-site.

Respiratory therapy and pharmacy services are available 24 / 7.

Shifts run from 7 AM to 7 : 30 PM.

Report is conducted at the bedside.

Self-scheduling is implemented, though not finalized until staffing is balanced.

Schedules are released 4 weeks in advance.

Travelers can access schedules from home to mark availability for extra shifts and trade with other staff.

Floating to other facilities may occur, though mid-shift float is rare.

Specific orientation consists of 1-2 days on the floor with a preceptor.

Common diagnoses in the unit are primarily medical ICU cases.

The ICU features a horseshoe layout.

This is an ideal position for a basic ICU RN traveler.

Cancellation policy allows up to 4 shifts to be canceled during a 13-week assignment.
