Job Description

This position reports to the Director of Publishing Operations and Publishing Operations Supervisors.

This role is conducted entirely online and is not a writing position. The ideal candidate is motivated to complete their assignments in a timely manner; self-directed; detail-oriented; adaptable; a strong communicator; able to identify patterns; demonstrates good judgment (using common sense, logic, and problem-solving skills); understands when to escalate a situation; takes the initiative where appropriate and particularly where a sense of urgency is required; has the highest standards of customer service; and maintains discretion regarding confidential information.

What you'll be doing :

  • Checking manuscripts to ensure they are complete and adhere to our guidelines;
  • Resolving issues that arise for both internal and external stakeholders, in a timely fashion.
  • Troubleshooting various aspects of the peer-review process
  • Reviewing accepted articles before publication to ensure compliance with house style
  • Coordinating with authors,reviewers, Academic Editors and typesetters and responding to their queries
  • Managing post-publication queries and corrections
  • Cross trained to provide staffing coverage across the team
  • Answer emails / customer service inquiries
  • Assisting with documentation
  • Collaborating on workflows and processes
  • Liaising and collaborating with colleagues

Qualifications : Qualifications

What we're looking for :

  • Excellent English comprehension and communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Proficiency with MS Word, MS Excel, MS Sharepoint and MS Teams and PDF editing tools
  • Demonstrated organizational skills (the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines)
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • An interest, and / or experience, in STM (‘Scientific, Technical and Medical’) or academic publishing
  • A university degree or equivalent is preferred
  • Able to complete their assignments in a timely manner
  • Self-directed
  • Demonstrate good judgment (using common sense, logic, and problem-solving skills)
  • Capable of understanding when to escalate a situation
  • Take initiative where appropriate and particularly where a sense of urgency is required
  • Demonstrates the highest standards of customer service
  • Maintains discretion regarding confidential information.
  • Additional Information

    What we offer in return :

    Hourly pay rate ranging from $21.98 - $26.92 (about $40,000 - $49,000 annually)

  • The successful candidate will be able to utilize our balanced working model. We ask that candidates live within a commutable distance of our offices in either Philadelphia PA, New York NY, or Boca Raton FL to ensure that as a balanced worker they can make it to our office locations to collaborate as required. Time spent in the office will be 3x per week
