Lead Controls & Instrumentation Engineer

Title : Lead Controls & Instrumentation Engineer Salary : $130,000-$150,000 Location : Appleton, WI or Reston, VA Schedule : Hybrid 3-4 days a week in office A growing national engineering consultancy is seeking a Lead I&C Engineer to lead full-life-lifecycle EPC and engineering projects across industrial and manufacturing sectors. WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING : We’re looking for an experienced Controls & Instrumentation Lead to manage project scope and guide engineering deliverables. This role interfaces directly with stakeholders to understand requirements and ensure successful execution. Lead discipline activities from project start through completion Develop and document scopes of work Size and specify instrumentation (pressure, transmitters, flow meters, control valves, actuators, etc.) Create datasheets and coordinate vendor quotes Collaborate with process engineering on device selection Prepare schematics, loop sheets, and termination drawings Design custom control panels Ensure project success criteria are met Track project costs and communicate scope changes Build strong stakeholder relationships and resolve issues Review and manage deliverables, monitor progress, and oversee implementation REQUIREMENTS : B.S. in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering 10+ years in project engineering, preferably within EPC or engineering environments Strong background in instrumentation across all project phases, from studies through startup Knowledge of front-end and detailed engineering Strong communication and relationship-building skills Working knowledge of AutoCAD PLC programming experience is a plus FootBridge is an equal opportunity employer committed to an inclusive environment where everyone is valued and respected.
