Career Opportunity

We are currently seeking candidates for a Public Works Technical Coordinator position, located in our Wallops Island, Virginia station.

Surface Combat Systems Center (SCSC) Wallops Island, VA requires support for management, engineering, operation, and technical expertise for activation, operations, maintenance and engineering of equipment, systems, and computer programs in support of all Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) and Program Executive Office, Integrated Warfare Systems (PEO IWS) missions and projects performed at SCSC.

SCSC provides live and simulated integrated warfare capabilities in a net-centric, maritime environment to develop, test, evaluate, and conduct fleet operations and training for the warfighter.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintain and ensure the accuracy of the Maximo Asset Management database to include all information related to service repairs, fault analysis, trouble call tracking, and replacement planning strategies.
  • Quantify requirements and prepare input for the Public Works Department budget.
  • Maintain the Public Works Department Five Year Master Plan to include facility upgrades and replacement of required equipment, building repairs, roof replacement, Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) upgrades and related systems.
  • Support facility planning efforts in accordance with current Navy Shore Facility Planning System guidance to include the allocation and usage of government facility spaces using Naval Facilities Engineering Command (NAVFAC) P-80 facility planning criteria.
  • Coordinate with Engineers and Drafters to provide conceptual designs for proposed construction and assist in the development and review of facilities planning and design documentation for planned construction to include review of calculations and design criteria concerning heating, ventilation, air conditioning and electrical power distribution and facility design;

and ensuring that space, support equipment, security, safety, and habitability requirements have been adequately met.

Travel

This position includes a low level of travel.

Education, Knowledge, Experience, Skills and Abilities Required

  • A high school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Completion of an associate’s or technical degree in Construction, Project Management, Facility Management, or a related area from a post-secondary vocational or technical school is preferred.
  • Six years of increasing responsibility in the installation, construction, and maintenance of equipment, utilities, control systems, and buildings.
  • Documented journeyman level skills in heating, ventilating, and air conditioning (HVAC), plumbing, or electrical systems.
  • Administrative skills and computer literacy.
  • Exceptional customer service and interpersonal skills, as well as verbal and written communications skills.

None.

Qualifications

Active DoD Secret security clearance is highly desired, however candidates who are eligible to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance will be considered.

If the selected candidate does not hold an active clearance, he / she will receive a contingent offer and start date will be delayed until an interim Secret clearance is granted.

  • U.S. citizenship required.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license.
  • Must have reliable transportation to and from various work locations on base.

  • Ability to lift and transport materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds on a frequent basis and up to 100 pounds on an occasional basis.
