Schedule / Job Type
Contract | Days | Shifts are 7:00–17:30 or 12:30–23:00, expected 36–40 hours per week based on contract | No self-scheduling; block scheduling determined by departmental need
Key Responsibilities
- Provide perioperative nursing care across a high-volume OR environment with 28 total suites, supporting 20–40 general surgery cases per day
- Assist with a broad range of procedures including laparoscopic cholecystectomy, laparoscopic colon and appendix surgeries, cystoscopy, DaVinci robotic cases, hysterectomy, vascular, ENT, and urology cases
- Collaborate with surgical technologists and a charge nurse who actively assists with cases
- Document and manage patient care using EPIC OP TIME EMR
- Participate in weeknight call (1 per week) and weekend call (every other or every third weekend based on need); call response time within 30 minutes
- Float as needed to other surgery teams or SPD if qualified
Required Qualifications
- Active Illinois RN License (or confirmation that the application process has been initiated)
- BLS Certification required
- Minimum 2 years of experience in general surgery, gynecology, and urology
- Must have hands-on experience in general surgery, urology, GYN, and ENT
- EPIC experience required
- Must pass a drug screen; facility maintains a Drug-Free Campus policy
- Candidates with a permanent address within 50 miles of the facility may be subject to a local rate adjustment
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience in a similarly sized facility and OR environment within the last 2 years
- Familiarity with DaVinci robotic-assisted surgical procedures
- Experience working alongside surgical technologists in a high-volume OR setting
