RN Labor and Delivery PRN Nights Position Summary
Under the direction of the Department Director and / or Charge Nurse, provides direct and / or indirect, safe and effective professional nursing care.
Assumes responsibility for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating health care needs of all patients assigned.
Provides nursing care to a patient population ranging from infant to geriatric, unless otherwise indicated. Works collaboratively with the health care team, is customer focused and strives to meet unit and hospital goals.
Provides quality nursing care according to established practice standards and guidelines for the area(s) assigned. Must be willing / able to float to other (comparable) nursing units, as requested / needed.
THE RN LABOR AND DELIVERY PRN NIGHTS CANDIDATE WILL POSSESS THE FOLLOWING EDUCATION, LICENSE / CERTIFICATIONS, AND EXPERIENCE.

Education
1. Current unrestricted RN license in the State of South Carolina
2. One year of prior RN experience preferred in related field and / or a BSN Degree
3. Must have current BLS certification and NRP certification
4. ACLS and AWHONN fetal monitoring is required
5. Attends IV Therapy training and / or demonstrates competency in intravenous therapy within one year
6. Advanced certification in specialty field and / or participation in professional organization(s) encouraged
Other Qualifications
1. Knowledge of general nursing theories and practice
2. Previous hospital experience preferred
3. Must be able to work irregular schedules, weekends and holiday due to staffing and census fluctuations
4. Must be able to assume the role of a Charge Nurse as needed / requested

The RN provides high-quality, safe, cost-effective, total nursing care to all patients. The RN assumes responsibility for overall coordination and integration of patient care based on the nursing process.
The RN directs care according to established standards of safety, risk management, QI, and Infection Control, with the goal being to discharge the patient with an optimum level of care provided.
Assumes responsibility for coordination and planning of patient care within the prescribed medical regime. Administers all medications safely and in a timely manner per hospital policy.
Performs and fulfills all HICS (hospital incident command system) responsibilities, assignments, tasks, and roles as directed and needed by the facility in times of emergency and / or disaster.
Responsible for knowing the Hospital’s emergency codes, including the purpose and appropriate action for each, and adheres to the Hospital policies and procedures for each emergency code.
Education :
Required : Graduated from a state approved school of nursing or an accredited school.
Preferred : Bachelor's or Master's degree in Nursing
Experience :
Preferred : Recent acute care experience.
Certifications :
Required : Currently licensed, certified, or registered to practice profession as required by law, regulation in state of practice or policy;
CPR. AHA BLS, and if applicable by corporate policy for unit of hire, AHA ACLS and / or PALS and / or NRP.
