SUMMARY / OBJECTIVE :
The Payroll Manager will oversee and manage all aspects of payroll operations for Megawatt Construction, ensuring timely and accurate processing of employee compensation using UKG. This role requires in-depth knowledge of payroll best practices, tax regulations, and compliance requirements. The Payroll Manager will collaborate with HR, Finance, and department leaders to maintain data integrity, support reporting needs, and ensure seamless payroll administration across the organization.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :
- Payroll Processing : Manage the end-to-end payroll process on a bi-weekly basis using UKG, including data entry, validation, adjustments, and final approval.
- Compliance : Ensure payroll procedures comply with federal, state, and local laws, including tax filings, wage and hour laws, and benefits-related deductions.
- Reporting : Generate payroll reports for internal departments and external auditors as required; support Finance with accurate payroll data for budgeting and reporting purposes.
- System Management : Maintain and troubleshoot the UKG system, coordinate with technical support for updates, and ensure system configurations align with company policies.
- Audits and Reconciliations : Perform routine audits of payroll data to ensure accuracy and completeness; reconcile payroll accounts and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
- Policy Development : Assist in the development and implementation of payroll policies and procedures to improve efficiency and control.
- Employee Support : Respond to employee inquiries regarding pay, deductions, and payroll policies; provide support with UKG self-service tools and resources.
- Process Improvement : Identify opportunities for process automation and efficiency enhancements in payroll operations.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS :
Communication Skills : Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with employees at all levels, as well as external partners.Analytical Skills : Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify issues and implement effective solutions.Technical Proficiency : Advanced proficiency in UKG payroll systems; strong Microsoft Excel skills and familiarity with general accounting principles.Attention to Detail : High level of accuracy and attention to detail in all payroll-related activities and documentation.Time Management : Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE :
Education : Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or a related field.Experience : Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in payroll processing, with at least 2 years in a payroll leadership or management role.Certifications : Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or similar certification preferred.System Knowledge : Extensive experience with UKG payroll systems is required.Industry Knowledge : Experience in the construction industry or a multi-state employer environment is highly preferred.PHYSICAL DEMANDS :
