The Rehabilitation Hospital of Indiana (RHI), named Best Rehabilitation Hospital in Indiana in 2022 and 2023, provides quality rehabilitation services to those facing life-changing injuries or illness.

We specialize in the areas of brain injury, stroke, spinal cord injury and complex medical conditions. RHI is the only Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) Model System in the state of Indiana and one of only 16 in the U.

S. Our campus on the west side of Indianapolis specializes in inpatient and outpatient evidence-based, patient-centered therapy for ages 15 and older.

SUMMARY / PURPOSE OF JOB

Under the direction of the Digital Marketing and Brand Specialist and Chief of Strategy and Business Development, the Marketing Intern position exists to perform marketing.

functions and assigned administrative details for the Marketing and Business Development Department. Performs a variety of tasks with minimal supervision.

JOB DUTIES / ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Creates, edits, lays out, and / or writes for press releases, flyers, promotional items, RHI's newsletters, brochures, and advertisements using desktop publishing software.
  • Under the direction of the Digital Marketing and Brand Specialist, will be responsible for taking on a variety of tasks in relations to photography and social media platforms that allow for the successful completion of planned RHI programs.

These events include special presentations, Patients of the Year celebration, promotional functions, anniversary related activities, National Rehabilitation Week celebrations, etc.

  • Participates in special projects as assigned.
  • Provides necessary support as needed to the Digital Marketing and Brand Specialist, for marketing and business development activities.
  • As assigned / needed, compiles and processes statistical information and data for the preparation of reports and composes material within the scope of responsibility.
  • Assists with database management. Works under the supervision of the Digital Marketing and Brand Specialist to maintain up-to-date marketing collateral files.
  • Assists in tracking and analyzing existing marketing campaigns and reports on results, and coordinates market research studies.

Maintains and updates website and other social media sites run by RHI (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube, etc.) to create a concise message that is effective in increasing traffic and therefore business for inpatient and outpatient services.

  • Participates in continuous quality improvement / program evaluation activities and observes measures to ensure the Hospital, JCAHO, CARF, and other quality standards and regulations are met.
  • Uses appropriate technique in performing duties to avoid or minimize accidents and injury related to unsafe practice. Proactively seeks information and resources, including the Environment of Care Manual, to aid in safe performance of duties to contribute to the RHI culture of safety.
  • Employee is focused on providing customer satisfaction (including, but not limited to, patients, co-workers, visitors, vendors and physicians) as a primary goal / outcome of all interactions;

places customer first in the performance of job duties and responds to needs in a timely manner as evidenced by the absence of legitimate customer complaints.

Assists with Media as directed.

JOB DUTIES / ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Ineffective communications and scheduling follow through could result in loss of organizational credibility and impact negatively on future business.

Clerical or statistical errors could cause considerable inconvenience, delay and embarrassment to the hospital.

QUALIFICATIONS

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES

This position requires excellent verbal and written communication skills, maturity, strong organizational skills and a working knowledge of hospital and department policies and procedures and public relations.

Demonstrates the ability to handle discretionary information. This position requires a strong base in use of a computer and software programs and ability to perform detailed work with accuracy.

Must be able to work from both specific detail and concept with demonstrable mastery of journalistic skill. Bilingual capability (Spanish / English) strongly preferred.

EXPERIENCE

Proficiency required in Microsoft office products - Word, Access, PowerPoint, and Excel.

SPECIAL TRAINING, LICENSURE, CREDENTIALING

EDUCATION

Bachelors' Degree in any field required, Public Relations or Marketing degree preferred.

EQUIPMENT USED

Computer, fax, copier, general office equipment.

INTERNAL

Frequent interactions with personnel at all levels and departments throughout the hospital.

EXTERNAL

Regular interactions in person, by telephone, Fax or Mail with potential referral sources, patients and families, marketing resources, advertising agencies, media and vendors.
