Mainframe Application Developer - COBOL & CICS

About the role

As a Mainframe Application Developer – COBOL & CICS, you will make an impact by designing, developing, and maintaining robust mainframe applications that support critical business operations. You will be a valued member of the Technology & Engineering team and work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including project managers, analysts, and QA engineers.

In this role, you will

• Develop secure, high-quality production code using COBOL, JCL, CICS, IMS, and other mainframe technologies.
• Debug and maintain existing applications, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
• Collaborate with teams to estimate, plan, and document JIRA stories and development tasks.
• Conduct peer code reviews to ensure adherence to architecture standards and security policies.
• Identify and implement automation opportunities to improve operational stability and reduce recurring issues.

Based on this role's business requirements, this is an onsite position requiring 5 days a week in a client or Cognizant office in Columbus, OH or Wilmington, DE or Plano, TX. What you need to have to be considered

8+ years of experience in IBM-Z / OS mainframe application development.

These will help you stand out

Bachelor's degree in computer science, IT or equivalent
