Job description

Agency Services Director

The Agency Services Director will oversee agency services and applications, and coordinate IT and development efforts within the Division of Technology Services (DTS). This role requires a strategic leader with proven experience in technology leadership within a large and complex organization. We are seeking a strategic and creative technology leader with a proven track record in large, complex organizations. The successful candidate will possess strong analytical skills to solve difficult problems, even with incomplete information, and demonstrated expertise in organizing and successfully managing a very large team and large complex portfolio of technology projects. We are looking for a candidate that will be adept at analyzing complex problems and developing solutions, and will have demonstrated expertise in managing large and complex portfolio of software development projects.

This position will be primarily in office work with some telecommuting, located at : Utah Department of Government Operations, Division of Technology Services (DTS); 4315 South 2700 West, Taylorsville, UT 84129.

Responsibilities

Primary Duties :

  • Leadership and strategy
  • Create strong agency partnerships
  • Add value to state agencies by applying a disciplined approach to service delivery
  • Use technical skills to analyze the solutions to bring consistency to solutions
  • Technical support to the State CIO
  • Budget and resource management
  • Compliance and security

Qualifications

Required Qualifications :

  • Proven experience with managing large-scale IT operations and or related technologies.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to lead and motivate cross-functional teams effectively.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities, especially in high-pressure situations.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, capable of engaging with stakeholders at all levels.
  • In-depth knowledge of information security best practices and regulatory compliance requirements.

    • Preferred Skills :

  • IT Operations leadership experience in managing agency services and applications.
  • Government or public-sector experience.
  • Experienced budgeting and rates with internal service funds.

    • Supplemental Information

  • Employment contingent on passing a drug screening and a background check.
  • Risks found in the typical office setting, which is adequately lighted, heated and ventilated, e.g., safe use of office equipment, avoiding trips and falls, observing fire regulations, etc.
