The Director of Neighborhood Program oversees Healthy Neighborhoods Inc (HNI) neighborhood
activities including support for nonprofit HNI partner organizations and direct provision of services as
needed. This is a leadership position with supervisory responsibility playing a critical role in supporting
the President / CEO with overall organizational strategy and implementation.
Roles & Responsibilities
Position provides leadership and oversight over all HNI Neighborhood Programs and participates in
establishing the strategic direction of the organization in conjunction with HNI leadership.
Director of Neighborhood Programs establishes and maintains high-level critical relationships with HNI
leadership, Board of Trustees, community partners, philanthropic, public sector and other stakeholders.
Director of Neighborhood Programs oversees all aspects of HNI Neighborhood Programs including :
training; developing localized housing and marketing strategies and implementation; assistance
with grant-seeking, operational and administrative needs; and general advising as needed.

The position supervises a team of Neighborhood Coordinators, interns, fellows and other personnel.

Director of Neighborhood Programs supports HNI events and organizational activities as needed.
Position Details and Logistics
Compensation : Salary is commensurate with experience with anticipated range of $80,000 to $105,000.

Staff receive holidays and more than 20 days of leave annually.
Location : HNI Offices located at 11 East Mount Royal Ave, Baltimore City. HNI is currently 50% on site and
50% remote work.
Hours : 37.5 Hours per week. 9am to 5pm with half hour break. Posion may require occasional after-hours
or weekends to support community or HNI acvies for which Compensatory Time is available.
Reporting : Reports to President / CEO. Position will supervise a team of Neighborhood Coordinators,
contractors, fellows, interns or other personnel.
Conditions : Position includes routine office environment and conditions. Position includes significant
computer usage. Position does not require heavy lifting, routine exposure to inclement weather or
hazardous conditions, or the use or handling of hazardous materials.
Position Requirements
Direct, successful community engagement and organizing experience, working at community-level,
working in public sector, a nonprofit or small-scale organization required.
Five years plus of related professional experience with progressively increasing levels of responsibility
and supervisory responsibility strongly preferred.
Existing knowledge of community development and urban housing issues is required. Strong knowledge
of neighborhoods, community development and political eco-system and local market conditions in
Baltimore City (or of a comparable community with demonstrated ability to develop such knowledge of
Baltimore City) is required.
Project management experience and skills needed. Ability to manage overlapping timelines and
coordinate among multiple collaborators is required.
Strong written and verbal communication skills required including ability to build relationships and
communicate effectively with people from a wide range of backgrounds.
Creativity, resourcefulness, flexibility, and a strong team ethic are needed for success at HNI.
Bachelor’s degree required. Relevant Master’s degree or equivalent preferred.
