Williston Immanuel United Church Building Custodian
Williston Immanuel United Church, a progressive Christian community, is seeking a part-time building custodian to help us care for our beautiful historic building at 156 High Street, Portland. Our church is home not only to worship, but also to concerts, meetings, community events, and rentals. We're looking for someone who takes pride in keeping a space clean, safe, and welcoming for all who enter.
This is a part-time position averaging 20 hours per week, with hours ranging from 15-25, depending on events and seasonal needs. Scheduling is flexible, and we work with you to balance responsibilities and availability.
Compensation & Benefits :
- Pay : $20-$25 / hour (commensurate with experience)
- Average of 20 hours per week (flexible schedule)

What You'll Do :
Keep the church clean and in good working orderOversee the safety and security of the building and groundsSet up and take down for events (weddings, concerts, meetings, etc.)Do light maintenance on the building, grounds, equipment, and appliancesWork with outside contractors, inspectors, and repair people when neededHelp us stay up to date with safety, fire, and building codesShare recommendations for improvements and repairs with church leadershipWhat We're Looking For :
Experience in building or facility maintenance (preferred, but not required)Familiarity with basic repairs and ability to coordinate with vendorsSomeone reliable, organized, and able to work independentlyGood communication and people skillsFlexibility to occasionally respond outside regular hoursA person who can represent our progressive Christian church in a friendly and welcoming way (no religious background required)Technology Tools You'll Use :
