Job Description
American Traveler seeks an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit (Stepdown) night shift assignment requiring NE or compact state licensure and advanced certifications.
Responsibilities
Work in an acute care setting on a 33-bed Progressive Care Unit (Stepdown)Patient population includes young adults through geriatrics with conditions such as sepsis, STEMI, CHF, chest pain, COVID, stroke, renal failure, COPD, DKA, and multisystem failureNurse-to-patient ratio is typically 1 : 4-5RNs required to titrate drips including heparin, amiodarone, cardizem, nitroglycerin, IV antibiotics, and insulinUtilizes Epic EMR systemRNs must read and interpret their own telemetry stripsNight shifts are 12 hours; required to work every other weekend and holidays as neededRequired to float to MedSurg, Inpatient Rehab, or Skilled Care if necessaryEquipment includes BiPAP and AirvoCNAs support with a ratio of 1 : 10 depending on censusResponsibilities include frequent admissions and discharges, bedside report, and hourly roundingA strong sense of teamwork and a positive, engaged attitude are valued on this unitDetailed orientation includes first week classroom training and two 12-hour floor shiftsNavy blue scrubs are requiredUp to 7 days of requested time off can be approved; additional time off will not be approved during the contractCandidates must live at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligibleRequirements
Active NE or compact RN license; pending licenses will not be consideredMinimum 2 years of RN experience requiredCurrent certifications : BLS, ACLS, NIHSSExperience with titration of drips requiredMust provide a valid driver's license for verification of residency outside a 50-mile radiusCandidates may not currently be or have been employed as full-time, part-time, or PRN with any facility associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI or Dignity, within the past yearProfessional references required : one supervisor from the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from the past 3 years, including dates of employment and eligibility for rehireMust pass an open book skills exam during orientation with a minimum score of 90%No artificial nails permitted in patient care areasBenefits
