Production Manager - Sewing Department
- The Production Manager oversees all aspects of production within the sewing department.
- Responsibilities include meeting production targets, maintaining safety and quality standards, and optimizing processes for efficiency.
- The role involves supervising sewing machine operators, mechanics, and associates, implementing production schedules, and monitoring inventory levels.
Job Duties & Responsibilities :
Shift Management :
Execute shift schedules, including assignments, training, vacations, breaks, and overtime.Coordinate activities of supervisors, leads, operators, and associates.
Foster cooperation and engagement within the department.
Leadership & Development :
Develop team members using best practices and effective communication.Implement performance management techniques.
Production Scheduling :
Create schedules to meet customer demand and delivery deadlines.Monitor manufacturing steps and adjust work assignments as needed.
Inventory & Troubleshooting :
Maintain material inventory levels.Troubleshoot sewing issues and coordinate repairs.
Safety & Quality :
Enforce safety requirements and quality standards.Provide regular production performance reports.
Collaboration & Continuous Improvement :
Collaborate with other departments.Use Lean and Six Sigma tools for process improvement.
Experience & Skills Required :
- At least 4 years of supervisory or managerial experience in sewing production.
- Strong knowledge of sewing techniques, equipment, and materials.
- Excellent organizational and leadership skills.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and production management software.
- Effective communication skills, including Spanish fluency (a plus).
- Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices.
Education & Certifications :
- degree or equivalent experience required.
- Bachelor’s degree in textiles, industrial engineering, business, or related field preferred.
- Training in Lean Six Sigma is advantageous.
