What You’ll Do
The Engineering Director will be responsible for leading several engineering programs, such as Safety, Quality, Sustainability, Asset Health Check, and more. This role serves as a member of the central engineering leadership team and is responsible for owning and driving engineering strategies as necessary to support the team agenda. This job is hybrid and can be done from Chicago area, Nashville Tennessee area, or Salt Lake City area.
How You Will Do It
- Provide guidance and support for the engineering team regarding design concepts, specifications, and requirements to best utilize equipment and manufacturing processes.
- Reputation of the team, i.e., how the project was achieved.
- Develop and support capital spending plans.
- Own the connection, translation, and deployment of capital projects across the H&W division.
- Collaborate with R&D, Engineering, and Operations leaders to shape, deploy, and execute capital projects.
- Enhance the engineering process, including building strategies toward an early management pillar structure.
- Manage the engineering team, project budgets, and objectives—developing and enforcing standardized project management requirements such as change control, training, construction management, scope development, and stakeholder buy‑in.
- Track CAPEX budget spend, cash‑flow projections, and productivity cost savings with the Finance team.
- Identify opportunities where technology and automation can reduce cost / benefit disparities.
- Build and manage an effective team, cultivating interpersonal opportunities.
- Collaborate with HSE and Food Safety & Quality teams to ensure products meet safety and quality standards.
- Communicate daily activities with all stakeholders.
- Coordinate with external project stakeholders to align priorities and scopes of work.

High‑performance team experience.Demonstrated experience in continuous improvement / change management / transformational projects.Project and program management experience.A strong understanding of cross‑functional responsibilities in successful project delivery.Effective people management through team‑building processes and excellent communication.Working knowledge of Mars policies and procedures highly desirable.In‑depth understanding of all functions within a plant and ability to work effectively with associates at all levels.Excellent communication, listening, influencing, critical thinking, and negotiation skills.You have
Engineering degree required; advanced degree or MBA desirable.5+ years of people leadership experience.7+ years of experience executing large‑scale capital projects, from concept through manufacturability.Ability to travel up to 40% of the time.Vision, purpose, and engagement driving for a high‑performing team, delivering capital projects in a fast‑paced, changing environment.Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) experience highly desirable.$160,000 to $190,000 – Actual salary will vary by location, experience, and performance.
