Staff Tax Preparer

Staff Tax preparer with general accounting and tax experience for a CPA firm. The tax preparer maintains records of financial transactions, tax preparation, posting transactions; ensure legal requirements compliance.

Job Requirements (including but not limited to the following) :

Prepare quarterly and monthly tax returns, along with payroll, operating and business taxes. Preparer using Pro FX to prepare 1040, 1041, 1065, 1120 and 1120S income tax returns. Business clients would have full data files with trial balance, depreciation, etc. Individual and trust files would have raw data (1099’s, W-2’s, K-1’s, etc.) in various forms of organization.

Communicate with the client or Partner to collect and review financial documents, understand individual situations.

Tax law knowledge and application : Stay current on federal, state, and local tax codes, credits, and deductions to maximize clients' refunds and minimize liabilities.

Financial data analysis : Analyze financial records, such as income statements and previous tax returns, to ensure accuracy and compliance.

Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying requirements; enforcing adherence to requirements; filing reports; advising management on needed actions.

Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

Skills and Requirements :

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and QuickBooks.

Additional experience with Pro FX by CCH is a plus – client will provide training as needed

Broader tax skills (additional training in tax process is possible)

Extensive experience with data entry, record keeping and computer operation

Three to five years’ experience working in accounts payable and receivable, general ledger, payroll and payroll reports

Understanding of business and income tax worksheets and computations

Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field is preferred

This is a direct hire position is located in the San Fernando Valley area. The pay rate is $80k To $90k annually DOE. Free parking and good employee benefits.
