Job Description & Requirements Specialty : Med Surg Discipline : RN Start Date : 11 / 17 / 2025 Duration : 13 weeks 48 hours per week Shift : 12 hours, nights Employment Type : Travel Job Description American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med / Surg night shift position in a Level II Trauma Center, requiring an active IL RN license and proficiency with Cerner. Responsibilities Work in the Medical Surgical unit of an acute care hospital Night shifts available : 3x12 or 4x12 (18 : 00–6 : 30) Patient census averages 35 per shift Level II Trauma Center with 372 staffed beds Utilizes Cerner for charting; Cerner experience required Floating required within the hospital and to nearby affiliate hospitals Every other weekend is required; no on-call responsibilities Accepts local candidates with no radius restriction Duties include comprehensive care for diverse Med / Surg patients, involvement with rapid response teams, and management of cardiac, GI, GU / renal, respiratory and wound care cases Team structure includes interdisciplinary collaboration in a busy, high-acuity unit Blue, black, or gray scrubs required Must be able to work 2 out of 3 major holidays Must not exceed 5 days of non-holiday requested time off without facility approval Free parking available with permit upon orientation First-time travelers are not eligible for this assignment Requirements Active IL RN license required at the time of consideration or evidence of application in process Minimum 2 years of recent Med / Surg RN experience required BLS certification required (AHA or Red Cross accepted; RQI not accepted) Proficiency with remote telemetry, rapid response teams, and emergency response Experience with colostomy care, feeding tube management, pre / post hemodialysis, renal failure, IV therapy, phlebotomy, central / PICC line management, and blood product administration Competence in Heparin, Insulin, and PCA medication administration Skilled in respiratory interventions : CPAP / BiPAP, HFNC, tracheostomy management, and portable oxygen equipment Knowledge in wound care, isolation precautions, and wound vac use Cerner charting experience required Permanent or PRN employees must have a 12-month break before applying as a traveler Benefits High Pay and Bonuses Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options 401(k) Plan Weekly Payroll Deposit Free Online CEUs Generous Housing Allowance Travel and Licensure Reimbursements Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID P-626089.
