As a Internal Developer Portal Developer at UWM you will work in a fast paced, results driven .NET environment and be responsible for building a highly scalable enterprise application.
This position reports directly to our Team Leader of Enterprise Technology.
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING :
Design, develop, and maintain Internal Developer Platform services, APIs, and developer-facing tools.
Build a modern user-friendly Developer Portal that enables self-service provisioning of infrastructure, services, CI / CD pipelines, and runtime environments.
Integrate with cloud platforms (GCP, Azure, AWS), Kubernetes, service meshes, and internal systems.
Champion platform best practices : service cataloging, golden paths, scaffolding templates, observability standards, etc.
Collaborate with platform engineers, product managers, and development teams to prioritize and deliver features that enhance productivity.
Implement access control, role-based security, and compliance measures within the portal.
Continuously optimize the developer experience through feedback loops, analytics, and user testing.
Contribute to platform strategy and technical roadmap, including scaling, reliability, and architecture improvements.
Mentor junior developers and advocate for platform engineering principles across the organization.
WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU :
Required :
6+ years of experience in software development (backend and / or frontend), ideally in platform or infrastructure engineering.
Deep experience building developer tools, platforms, portals, or self-service systems.
Strong programing skills (e.g., TypeScript, Go, Python, Java)
Familiarity with Kubernetes, containerization, and cloud-native ecosystems.
Experience with developer portal frameworks (e.g. Backstage, Cortex, Port.io, or custom-built solutions).
Understanding of DevOps, CI / CD pipelines and infrastructure as code
Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work across engineering, security, and product teams.
A mindset focused on developer empathy, scalability, and operational excellence.
Preferred :
Hands-on experience with IDP platforms like Port.io, Backstage, Cortex, or Humanitec.
Knowledge of SSO integrations (e.g., SAML, OAuth, OIDC) and RBAC systems.
Familiarity with observability tools (e.g., Grafana, Prometheus, Dynatrace).
Prior work in platform engineering, SRE, or infrastructure-focused roles.
Exemplary communication abilities
Experience with build tools (Jenkins, TeamCity, Team Builds)
Experience with GIT-based source control tools (TFS, Azure DevOps, BitBucket, GitHub)
Experience with deployment & configuration tools (Octopus, XL Deploy, Ansible, Chef, Puppet)
Experience using web-based technologies (ASP.NET, JavaScript, CSS)
Experience with package management tools (NuGet, ProGet, Nexus)
Experience with database automation (RedGate, Datical, Liquibase)
Experience with work tracking tools (TFS, Jira)
Experience in an Agile environment
Experience with full SDLC process
