Job Summary
The Auditor II is responsible for compiling, analyzing, and supporting activities related to regulatory filings, quality assurance reviews, and rate administration. This role involves preparing and reviewing rate-related documents, analyzing rate issues, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. The position requires strong analytical, accounting, and financial skills to support accurate and efficient preparation of rate cases, filings, and cost-of-service analyses. Working under management direction, the Auditor II ensures that all filings are thorough, accurate, and compliant with applicable jurisdictional standards.
Job Responsibilities
- Lead the preparation and updates of rate-related documents utilized by other departments
- Perform detailed review, analysis, and oversight of rate filing documents, work papers, and supporting schedules to ensure accuracy and compliance
- Prepare quantitative analyses of all rate schedules to evaluate customer bill impacts and identify potential issues or improvements
- Develop and review tariffs and tariff calculations that incorporate costs related to fuel, purchased power, capacity, energy efficiency, environmental initiatives, securitization, and other rate components
- Document, interpret, and assist in the application of regulatory order filing requirements
- Prepare regulatory data for filing, including pro forma adjustments, cost-of-service allocations, and rate development for equitable cost recovery
- Conduct peer reviews of Formula Rate Plans (FRPs), rate cases, fuel filings, special riders, and other regulatory submissions for accuracy, completeness, and compliance
- Provide analytical support to management and other departments to ensure sound rate design and consistent implementation of rate policies
- Maintain organized documentation and ensure accuracy and timeliness in all deliverables
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment between regulatory, financial, and operational objectives
Job Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Mathematics, or Engineering required; degree in Accounting or Finance highly preferredMBA or CPA certification preferredMinimum of 3 years of relevant professional experience in auditing, accounting, finance, or regulatory analysis requiredExperience with regulatory filings or utility rate cases preferredStrong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills with exceptional attention to detailProficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, and familiarity with mainframe business applicationsAbility to develop and maintain detailed spreadsheets and perform complex data analysisStrong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple assignments and shifting priorities effectivelyExcellent written and verbal communication skills for preparing clear, concise summaries and reportsProven ability to work independently with minimal supervision as well as collaboratively in a team environmentFlexible and adaptable to changing business or regulatory requirementsPreferred Experience
