Afterschool counselors get to be role models for elementary-age children while engaging in activities with them, helping them develop friendships, fostering an environment where they can develop self-esteem, and supervising them in an active, safe and fun environment.
If this sounds like a perfect job for you, you can work either 1 : 30-6pm, 2-6pm, or 3-6pm shifts on Mondays through Fridays, please apply today! We are always excited to welcome new wonderful counselors to our JCC family!
Minimum Qualifications :
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- A LOVE for working with children and having fun!
- High schooler in the junior or senior year.
- Formal or informal childcare experience is preferred, but not required.
- Previous youth group or camp experience is a plus, but not required.
- Is "ready" (ready to help kids with homework, participates in dress up days, and has swimsuit and is ready to go in the pool, etc.)
- Ability to speak fluent English, understand it as well as read and write.
- Ability to commit to the assigned work schedule.
- A positive attitude and display of excitement to work with kids.
Special Requirements and Physical Demands
- Tasks involve the ability to exert moderate physical effort which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and / or pulling of objects and materials of moderate weight (up to 75 lbs), bending stooping, stretching, squatting and sitting.
- Must possess strength and endurance required to maintain constant supervision of campers.
- Ability to be exposed to outdoor elements such as sun, heat, humidity, and rain
- Tolerates loud noises such as music, large gatherings, cheering, etc.
