Position Description The Department of Pediatrics at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) is recruiting faculty candidates for its Program in Pediatric Research. These positions will support investigators across basic, translational, and clinical science, and may include clinical responsibilities at the San Francisco and Oakland campuses. Selected candidates will join a major academic medical center, contribute to research, education, and patient care, and collaborate within a multidisciplinary environment. Core Responsibilities Conduct and lead pediatric research in basic, translational, and/or clinical areas. Develop and manage research projects, secure external funding, and demonstrate independence in a defined research area. Teach and mentor trainees and junior faculty. Collaborate across disciplines and institutions to build research programs. Participate in clinical activities as needed at UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospitals. Required Qualifications MD, MD/PhD, or equivalent degree. Eligibility for a California medical license. Board‑certified or board‑eligible in pediatrics and/or a pediatric subspecialty. Demonstrated record of high‑impact publications and success in obtaining peer‑reviewed external funding. Evidence of independence and productivity in a defined area of pediatric research. Commitment to multidisciplinary collaboration. Preferred Qualifications Evidence of effective teaching and mentorship. Strong communication and leadership skills. History of, or strong potential for, securing R01 or equivalent funding as Principal Investigator. Experience building collaborative research programs across disciplines or institutions. Salary and Effort For positions that are 51% effort or more, the minimum base salary range is $121,900–$344,400, with additional compensation through the health sciences compensation plan.
