Job Summary
As an Acute Care Patient Care Technician, you will perform a variety of clinical and technical tasks including CPR, vital signs monitoring, telemetry patient observation, EKG acquisition, wound care, phlebotomy, and assisting with procedures. You will support patients with personal care activities such as bathing, dressing, mobility assistance, and meal preparation, all while maintaining a positive and respectful environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care within the scope of a Certified Nursing Assistant license.
- Perform technical skills to support efficient patient care, including cardiac monitoring and specimen collection.
- Assist with patient transport, room preparation, and inventory of personal belongings.
- Anticipate patient needs, respond promptly to call lights, and communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare staff.
- Document patient care activities accurately and assist with administrative tasks such as scheduling tests and entering data.
- Maintain cleanliness and safety of patient care areas, adhering to infection control protocols.
- Participate actively in teamwork, training, and fostering a positive work environment.
Education and Experience
High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree preferred.Completion of a state-approved Certified Nursing Assistant program.One to two years of experience in a patient care setting, preferably acute care.Telemetry experience is a plus.Licenses and Certifications
Certified Nursing Assistant (NA-C) license in the state of Washington.Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.Medical Assistant Phlebotomy certification preferred.Skills and Abilities
Strong knowledge of patient care practices within the nursing assistant scope.Ability to apply age-specific care principles and demonstrate sensitivity to patient needs.Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, maintaining professionalism and confidentiality.Proficiency with technology including electronic medical records and telemetry equipment.Attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks effectively.Physical Requirements
Ability to lift and carry varying weights, stand, walk, bend, and perform physical tasks required for patient care.
Work Environment
This position involves 12-hour shifts in a part-time capacity, supporting a collaborative and patient-focused healthcare team.
