The Nuclear Material Control and Accountability group is seeking an exceptional leader to manage the NMCA Site Operations Team. This team is responsible for supporting all operations that use accountable nuclear material at Los Alamos National Laboratory including Physical Inventories, transactions in the LANL nuclear material accountability system, response to anomalous conditions, leading continuous improvement efforts, and mentoring / training others on MC&A topics. This position is highly visible with broad institutional impact and requires a balance of strong leadership, technical competence / ability, and commitment to continuous improvement. The selected candidate must be comfortable engaging with management throughout Los Alamos National Laboratory and DOE / NNSA, be able to anticipate challenges or obstacles and tactfully resolve them with minimal supervision.

Minimum Job Requirements :

• MC&A Site Operations Manager 3 (Material Control & Accountability Manager) $114,700 - $191,200
• Leadership : Demonstrated leadership experience and skills including personal integrity and accountability, commitment to quality and excellence, mission, focus, and personnel development including mentoring, team building, and resolving complex technical issues, and managing budget with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
• Strategic Planning : Strong ability to develop strategic organizational goals and objectives to ensure alignment and realization of group strategic vision. Demonstrated success in working effectively with program and technical staff in defining and accomplishing program milestones (scope, cost, and schedule) while building technical capabilities within a team implementation of continuous improvement initiatives.
• Performance Assurance : Proven experience with the development and application of metrics and lessons learned to improve performance, ability to manage procedure development and implementation, experience responding to anomalous conditions and managing corrective action plans and reduce risks through modification of work practices and processes to achieve efficiency while maintaining compliance with requirements.
• Communication : Demonstrated excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. Ability to negotiate outcomes with internal and external stakeholders.
• Management Skills : Ability to manage a diverse team of technical staff, HR activities, such as hiring and performance management. Demonstrated ability to implement Federal requirements authorization basis.
• Technical Competency : Demonstrated ability to interpret Federal requirements, requirements flow down, and to develop compliance-based solutions to a broad range of complex issues. Demonstrated professional level experience in a STEM field.

Education / Experience : Position requires a bachelor's degree and 5 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. At this level, post graduate course work may be desirable.

Work Environment :

Work Location : The work location for this position is onsite and located in Los Alamos, NM. All work locations are at the discretion of management.

Position commitment : Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. If an employee has not served the time required, they may only apply for Laboratory jobs with the documented approval of their Division Leader. The position commitment for this position is 1 year.
