Candidates who pass screening will have an opportunity to apply for open positions at specific MPS schools as they become available this spring and summer.

SCHOOL PSYCHOLOGIST SUMMARY

School psychologists provide a full range of psychological services to support the academic and behavioral competence of students ages birth to 21 in one or more sites in the Minneapolis Public School District.

Essential functions of these positions may include :

  • Utilizing evidence-based best practice in all aspects of work, including pre-referral interventions, consultations, and evaluations.
  • Participating in design, implementation, and evaluation of early intervention with children experiencing academic and behavioral difficulty.
  • Providing individual and group intervention services for students, including social skills training and crisis intervention.
  • Assisting in the development of crisis response teams and providing crisis response services.
  • Assessing individual students through direct and indirect methods, including use of the Minneapolis Problem-Solving Model.
  • Collaborating with peers to develop, plan, and implement best practices based on the needs / abilities of the students.
  • Supporting development and implementation of data collection and analysis systems to support data-based decision-making.
  • Adhering to due process requirements, state and federal laws regarding students with disabilities, and professional ethics and standards of school psychology.
  • Supporting building staff in developing good practices related to due process requirements.
  • Participating in revenue-generating activities required for special education personnel, including logging services for MA billing, using the web-based EasyIEP system, and participating in the 'random moment' study for administrative Medicaid-claiming and Minnesota Department of Education (MDE) Time Studies, as scheduled.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, TRAINING, and EXPERIENCE

  • Ph.D. or Ed.S. Degree in school psychology or related field.
  • Completion of graduate program in School Psychology that is (a) approved by NASP or consistent with NASP's Standards for Training and Field Placement Programs in School Psychology or was accredited, at the time of the applicant's graduation, by an agency approved by the U.

S. Department of Education.

  • Valid Minnesota License in School Psychology or eligible for license.
  • Completion of supervised internship in school psychology.
  • Demonstrated continued professional development though course work, research, peer collaboration and / or job-embedded staff development.

ADDITIONAL MINIMAL REQUIREMENTS for HARRISON EDUCATION CENTER

  • Trained in urban education.
  • Background with setting IV programming.
  • Ability to build relationships with students.
  • Commitment to culturally relevant evaluations.
  • Trained on cultural diversity and unconscious bias.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Completion of year-long supervised internship in school psychology.
  • National School Psychologist Certification (NCSP) or NCSP-eligible.
  • Prior successful experience in urban, multicultural education.

Final appointment to this position will be contingent upon passing a criminal background check.
