What you are good at
Corporate Financial Consultants are aligned to one or more Stock Plan Services ("SPS"), Retirement Plan Services ("RPS"), and Compliance Solutions corporate relationship(s) and will support clients who are current employees participating in those corporate offerings.
As a Corporate Financial Consultant at Charles Schwab, you will provide high-touch service, ongoing comprehensive guidance, and advice to your clients through on-campus, face-to-face and virtual relationship building. You will work across a wide spectrum of wealth management needs as you help clients understand and get comfortable with all aspects of their financial life, including but not limited to: financial literacy and wellness, financial planning, estate planning, investment management, equity awards and vesting planning, retirement planning, education planning, active trading, banking, insurance, and lending needs. You will be supported by a team of dedicated professionals who can help you go in-depth for complex financial needs or give you support in some of the servicing your clients may encounter.
The primary goal of a Corporate Financial Consultant is to promote Schwab's offering across corporate clients in a scalable manner through presentations, workshops, and client appreciation events both virtually and in-person. In addition, the Corporate Financial Consultant is responsible for deepening relationships with employees and their household through financial literacy and wellness, financial planning, a holistic approach including both current and long term investment objectives, as well as positioning the appropriate solutions and strategies through Schwab's broad product offering.
Schwab Corporate Financial Consultants receive a total compensation package which includes a competitive base salary and a potential for additional bonus derived by individual performance.
What you have
Required minimum skills and qualifications are:
- Active and valid FINRA Series 7 license required
- Active and valid FINRA Series 66 (63/65) license required (may be obtained within 120 days of employment)
- Demonstrated passion for service and financial markets; strong client-focus and the desire to build relationships during each interaction.
- Proven work ethic with a high level of integrity to build trust with our clients and colleagues.
- Extensive experience and a sincere interest in the financial planning process
- Minimum of two years successful financial services experience working with retail clients, with shown success in providing advice and consultation, managing, developing and expanding client relationships
- Deliver expertise, in writing, speaking, training, the Schwab planning community, and other forums on equity plan options, personal taxation, Social Security, estate planning and other financial planning topics
- Willingness to help clients navigate the overarching benefits their corporate client is providing and positioning Schwab capabilities within their overall financial picture
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, especially the ability to learn and explain complicated subjects, build quality, long-term relationships, and conduct needs-based conversations with a variety of clients.
- Excellent emotional intelligence and consultative, interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to understand and identify various financial needs and provide recommendations in a client's best interest
- Presentation skills and comfort in facilitation to groups of various sizes (including large audiences)
- Serve as subject-matter-expert on key financial planning and personal finance topics, but also other areas including general planning, planning tools, planning process, retirement planning, education planning and insurance.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail in order to adhere to policies, procedures and guidelines.
- Simplify financial planning topics, to help clients turn advice into action
- Ability to effectively represent Schwab while also adapting to the Corporate culture of the partner firm
- Comfort in ambiguous environments, open to providing feedback and helping to shape the overall Schwab offering
The ideal candidate will also have:
- Certified Financial Planner (CFP) certification is preferred
- Preferred three to five years of working directly with retail clients
- Comfort with equity awards and vesting planning
- Ability to work autonomously with minimum oversight, in a non-Schwab environment
In addition to the salary range, this role is also eligible for bonus or incentive opportunities.
