Job Description/Responsibilities

Sazerac is seeking a motivated, resourceful and self-driven professional to join our Customs Compliance Team. This role collaborates with our global teams and is responsible for overseeing customs procedures, generating and auditing TTB (Tax and Trade Bureau) documents for import/export transactions, and supporting compliance-related activities. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of customs regulations, including the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS), Free Trade Agreements (FTAs), and proven experience in process improvement. Strong analytical skills, proficiency in Microsoft tools (including Power BI), and the ability to effectively support new projects and train team members are essential to the success of this position.

Qualifications/Requirements

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree Supply Chain Management, International Trade, Business Analytics, Information Technology or a related field. Relevant certifications (e.g., Licensed Customs Broker or Certified Customs Specialist) are a plus.
  • Experience: 2+ years of experience in customs compliance, preferably in both import and export functions.
  • Understanding of the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS), Free Trade Agreements (FTAs), and customs regulations.
  • Have a strong understanding of international shipping and logistics.
  • Experience with TTB documentation, customs declarations, and compliance reporting.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment with a focus on continuous process improvement.
  • Certification in Customs Compliance or related areas (e.g., Certified Customs Specialist, Global Trade Professional).
  • Knowledge of trade management software and ERP systems.
  • Knowledge of CBMA (Craft Beverage Modernization Act) program for imports.
  • Understanding of FTZ (Foreign Trade Zones) and CBW (Customs Bonded Warehouse) regulations and operations.
  • Skills:
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manipulate & organize raw data for analysis and reporting functions.
    • Comfortable working with complex data sets and can contribute to the development of strategies that ensure compliance across various functions.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and Power BI for data analysis and reporting.
    • Exceptional planning, multi-tasking and organizational skills with great attention to detail.
    • Strong computer skills and quick adaptability to new tools and systems.
    • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively interact with internal teams, external partners, and regulatory bodies.
    • Experience with Azure, SQL, Python and Tableau a plus
    • Keen ability to pull, interpret and decipher internal data
    • Navigate and optimize internal systems and processes
    • Design and develop comprehensive reports that provide actionable insights

Working Conditions:

    • Full-time position, Monday to Friday.
    • Occasional travel may be required for project-related activities or training.
