They administer comprehensive skilled care. Responsibilities include ensuring that care delivery services align with the agency's vision, mission, and goals while meeting customer needs. The Occupational Therapist promotes effective working relationships and works as an integral part of the team to achieve organizational objectives. They utilize resources, supplies, and time efficiently to contain costs and enhance the value of services within the community. The therapist is responsible for maintaining respectful communication with all external sources, patients, families, and colleagues. They consistently demonstrate behaviors that support the organization. Additional duties include participating in public relations and marketing initiatives. The Occupational Therapist strives for continuous improvement in their function and care delivery processes. They develop and revise treatment plans and discharge plans in collaboration with patients, families, physicians, and care teams. The therapist ensures a respectful and private environment for patients. Preventive and rehabilitative strategies are initiated as needed. They consult with and educate patients and families about the disease process, self-care techniques, and preventive measures. Supervision of Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants (COTA) is provided to ensure patient health and safety. The Occupational Therapist directs, coordinates, evaluates, and supervises home health services, including the clinical supervision of Home Health Aides. They maintain positive interactions with patients, physicians, and referral sources to foster ongoing relationships. Demonstrating patience, courtesy, and tact is essential in this role. The therapist supports a care management philosophy that emphasizes collaborative and customer-focused planning and service delivery. Participation in scheduled patient conferences with care teams is required to discuss patient care and issues comprehensively. The Occupational Therapist ensures completion of clinical records for compliance with legislation and seamless service delivery. Referrals to community agencies and resources are made when necessary. The therapist maintains current knowledge of available services. Flexibility, enthusiasm, and a willingness to cooperate while working with customers and colleagues are crucial. Constructive recommendations for enhancing quality of patient care and service operation are encouraged. The Occupational Therapist leads by example, demonstrating integrity in their work. They assist in monitoring customer needs and identifying new service opportunities. The therapist ensures patients' needs are met throughout the care delivery process while adhering to performance competencies. Participation in achieving operational and financial objectives is expected. Monitoring results and taking corrective action on quality indicators, including customer satisfaction, is required.
